Work Less Party

Page history last edited by Andrew 15 years, 7 months ago
  1. Policies:
    • Environment:

Everyday millions of people head off to factory plants, assembly lines and other institutions of production. We proudly make cell phones, cars, calculators, television sets and many more technologically wondrous goods that after a few years of service end up in landfills polluting our air and water supplies. The facts are clear, we are proudly working and sacrificing endless hours of our own personal well being to make things that are having a detrimental impact on the planet. The solution that we are proposing is simple: work Less, consume Less and live More.
    • Poverty:

We would like to reduce unemployment and increase minimum wage. By reducing the work week we will be able to distribute the work load to more people and thus increase employment. Perpetual industrial growth has proven itself a failure to address the increase of homelessness and poverty in BC. It's now time for a new approach.
    • Promoting Activities: Instead on focusing on the current industrial goals of making an endless stream of consumer goods that just wind up in landfills and polluting the planet, lets start promoting activities that are not only good for us, but good for the environment as well; like community, arts, music, health, culture, friendships, adventure and education.
    • To sum up our policies we want a healthier world and environment for everyone, by consuming less, and working less. The less we consume the less we will have to work and the healthier everyone will be. We also want people to stay active.
  2. Leader:
    • Our party has chosen to have no leader.
  3. Type of Party:
    • Our party is protesting to get a shorter work week. This would result in less polution in the environment and a better world for everybody to live in. European employees work fewer hours per year and use less energy per person than their American counterparts. This report compares the European and U.S. models of labor productivity and energy consumption. It finds that if all countries worked as many hours per week as U.S. workers do, the world would consume 15 to 30 percent more energy by 2050 than it would by following Europe's model.
  4. Can a Christian support this?
    • We think that a Christian can supoprt this political group. There is nothing that this party believes in that goes agianst what the Bible says. There is no opinion given on abortion and their main point is to improve the world we live in.
  5. Videos:
    • There are no credible videos that can be found on the internet about the Work Less Party.
  6. Bibliography:
